Gaglioppo
The Gaglioppo The bunch is medium to large in size, conic or pyramid in shape,
short or long, simple or with one or two wings, a short peduncle,
and woody until the first ramification. The grape is spherical
or oval, with a waxy skin of deep violet, average width and consistency,
a sweet but simple tasting pulp, a rosy juice, with two seeds
per grape.
Doc Rules
A vine of notable vigour and of a constant
good production, it produces a grape of elevated sugar content
18.1% - 27.50%, on average 23.8%. It has medium to high acidity
(4.8 - 12.5).
Red and rose Ciro' D.O.C. must be
developed from grapes grown on Gaglioppo vines.
The production of Red Ciro' DOC also permits the use of
grapes derived from Trebbiano Toscano and Greco Bianco vines,
but the amount of these varieties must not exceed 5% of the all
grapes in an entire vineyard.
